Christmas is all about giving. Many of us take a name tag off the Christmas tree on the altar area and give a gift to a needy child. Santa and his elves are busy working away at the North Pole to bring that special gift to the kids and is probably the most well known gift giver.
Of course we all know about the three wise men that traveled from the East to bring the gifts of myrrh, gold and frankincense to the Christ child. I think we can all agree that God is the greatest gift giver of all, giving us the Christ child, his only son.
Recently, a bulletin article by Don Neill, of the Stewardship committee, invited you to take gift giving a step further than even the Magi and Santa Claus. You might be asking yourself “how can I do that?” “I think I already put a generous amount in the collection basket”. Thank you for giving of your treasure, but what he proposed was giving of your time and talent as a volunteer at SMAC parish.
In 2017 our parish will face on of the most challenging years in its history. We need everyone on board as we face a priest shortage and a manpower shortage….we need all hands on deck.
Call the SMAC staff and deluge them with offers of your time and talent. Won’t you give the “gift of self” this Christmas to SMAC parish? Let us know how this works out for you. Remember it is in giving that we receive.
